I was thinking about Cybertronians the other day and how their body language would work, since they’re different from humans. I would imagine that eye contact isn’t something they’re big on for a number of reasons. 1) They spend a lot of time as vehicles and therefore don’t have eyes by our standards, 2) quite a number of them have visors, like Jazz, which would make eye contact rather difficult, and 3) the size difference would make it rather difficult for larger bots to look at little bots.
So eye contact would be something saved for things like face offs and persuasions/interrogations, when intimidation is important. Or maybe when they’re expressing extremely strong emotions. And this would mostly go for mecha without visors. Like Megatron and Optimus.
Possibly stupid question, seeing as the Allspark was missing since the Great War how were most of the Autobots seen in Animated ever protoformed?
Not stupid at all! It’s one I often wonder about – did the creators of the show realize they’d built a gaping plot hole into its premise, right from the pilot? And more to the point, did it even matter when literally nobody ever noticed while the show was on the air? But there is an answer, thanks to the AllSpark Almanacs – whether it was a bit of info that came from the showrunners, or an idea created by the Almanac writers to explain the goof I don’t know, but the books established that Vector Sigma also exists in the Animated universe, and was used to bring life to the protoforms that became the post-war generation.
Cool stuff related to this blog I got from the Allspark Almanac
- Lockdown’s official arsenal now includes: bolos, sleep nets, the chainsaw, nova spray (?), lightning whip, sonic javelins, hub caps that pop off to become land-mines, and the Space Poncho. And guns. Lots of guns hidden in weird places.
- He wrote Ratchet’s Almanac page, which can be summed up as ‘Lockdown being an asshole’.
- There’s a trans-dimensional magazine for Decepticon Femmes called ‘Venus’. Blackarachina gave an interview for it wherein she states “I wonder if he’s trying to compensate for something.” about Lockdown. It also has such brilliant articles as “FIND YOUR SPARKMATE: 18 secrets guaranteed to help ensnare the right mech for you.”, “6 Surefire ways to climb the chain of command”, “Are Strika and Lugnut Stalling Out? Freezon Gives her Inside Scoop!”, and “How to Disarm A Foldspace Warhead & Other Tricks Every Girl Should Know with Pretender Alice.”
- Yitter exists in the Animated Universe, and Headmaster has an account.
- Yoketron made Lockdown clean up the Cyber-Dojo when he was being an asshole.
- Devcon and Lockdown were both trained by Yoketron (and probably know each other through him). Devcon was an Autobot through the Great War, or at the very least helped them out more than the Decepticons. Possibly not an amoral hunter in this reality.
- Don’t touch the Death’s Head. Ain’t no one messin’ with Lockdown’s ride.
- Bond/Spark Mates are canon to Animated.
Crystals and copper in Paul’s Lab
Dendritic Gold Crystals:
This amazing crystal of pure gold was grown through vapor deposition and is only 10mm high.
I had to use my microscope to make this detailed photo, using 75 individual photos and putting them together with focus stacking.
It really is this bright and shiny!
Silver Crystals:
These silver crystals were electrochemically grown from a solution of silver nitrate, using silver electrodes.
The field of view is 18 mm and is composed of 92 individual photos, combined using focus stacking.
Copper Dendrites:
This dendritic structure of pure copper was grown during the copper plating or electro plating of various objects.
The field of view is about 3 cm high.
Magnesium Crystal Cluster Close-up:
This is a close-up of a synthetic magnesium crystal cluster. It was done by distilling magnesium and the group is about 3 cm wide. It is part of my personal collection of elements.

These are beautiful! I love looking at these structures, the colors are so captivating and the structures and quite marvelous.
The copper structure looks like a volcanic eruption of some sort, and I just thought of what it would be like to see these crystal formations on a larger scale. Nonetheless, they are still magnificent in their uniqueness and originality.
Soooo a couple of somethings inspired me to share a piece of Cybertronian headcanon I’d developed a while back, but never found a purpose to post.
Centrofaci Crustallinum; a cyberphage native to Cybertron. (Inspired by a very creepy and very real thing)
The main body of the crystal growth is both brittle and highly toxic, it tends to be given a wide diversion for this very reason. The crystal takes approximately ten decavorn to mature, upon which it will spawn a smaller seed-crystal a significant distance from the main growth. This small, silver crystal is quite brittle and can appear highly-tempting to the uninformed. Upon consumption, the seed will dissolve in the tank of its victim, remaining dormant as it slowly infects their system. During the period of dormancy, the victim behaves and appears completely normal, and only a specialized test will reveal the parasitic infection.
Within a breem of ingesting the seed-crystal, the host will seek out the highest perch they can find (preference is given to the naked frames for megastructures, hence the colloquial name given to the crystal of Constructicon’s Curse) where the host will perch, stationary and unresponsive.
Within three megacycles of entering this catatonic state, the host’s armor will crumble into dust, releasing a cloud of iridescent cryspores that will seed the next generation of Centrofaci Crustallinum. While these cryspores cannot infect mecha, upon physical contact they are just as toxic as the crystal itself.
