I’ve had this idea for a few days (in conjunction with another idea but that’s something for another post)

but basically the idea is that in Brave Shall Heed the Call-verse, post-fic events, Shockwave and Perceptor start working together – because hey, they’re both science-y types, they could pool their efforts for the good of all Cybertronian kind! and blow shit up! and in meeting Perceptor in person, Shockwave finds out the hearsay that the Autobot deleted all his personality and emotive files to make room in his processor is true, and finds the results… lackluster. really, Perceptor – you could have been smarter about it.

so Shockwave starts something of a pet project: seeing if he can get Perceptor to develop a personality again. it’d be nothing short of a miracle, but between their two intellects (as well as Ratchet’s research into processor damage) there’s just a possibility that it just might work. and eventually Shockwave takes to recording it every time Perceptor does something that could be construed as an emotional reaction – to compile the data, see if he can find any patterns… and also, hopefully, to drag some bit of annoyance out of that barren stare. You’ve got to start somewhere, no?

and maybe eventually, it works through the gaps. Perceptor’s voice doesn’t return to normal; he’s still clinical and calculating in every single interaction. but sometimes he’ll synthesize something that could be sarcastic, and Shockwave will dutifully note it down: “Seventh Cycle 228; Perceptor is giving me a marked amount of what Blurr refers to as ‘sass’ today. I do not appreciate it.”

….I should have thought about these two characters more because this is an awesome idea.

Also Shockwave checking with Blurr about whether his emotional interpretations are correct is the best idea ever.
