Prowl is still here, still around. Optimus doesn’t know how, but he is; the Prime is sure of it. However, he doesn’t dare to say it aloud, for who would believe him? They’d say Prowl is long dead, his body laid to rest in one of Cybertron’s crypts reserved to the Autobots’ greatest heroes.
And they would be right, of course; Optimus himself helped carry the body in the procession, and delivered the eulogy at the grandiose funerals organized for their fallen friend.
But still… Prowl was still here. Optimus could see him from the corner of his optics, a pale, translucent, blurry figure that disappeared as soon as turned his head to try and get a better look. He could hear the Cyber-Ninja hum as he meditated, working on his processor-over-matter techniques every solar cycle as Prowl always used to.
He could feel featherlight touch on his body whenever he laid down and shuttered his optics, waiting for recharge to claim him.
And he could feel the softness, the heat of living, warm lips over his own when he sighed Prowl’s name.
But of course, whenever he lighted them again, only the void and cold greeted him.
Ghosts weren’t meant to be seen by the livings, after all.
I’m going to be doing Transformers Animated Optimus and Prowl since those two are the OP and Prowl I ship together.
Who’s more dominant: Personality-wise, I think it’d be Prowl. Optimus may be the leader, but it’s a professional position that doesn’t extend into their relationship. I’d imagine he’d be much more dorkier (though far more responible, this is gonna be awkward between the two due to their position and personality clashes at first.) Prowl’s no-nonsense attitude and former life as a no-goodnik means he’d likely be the “dominant” one.
Who’s the cuddler: Dude, Optimus. Within reason, but dude, Optimus.
Who’s the big spoon/little spoon: Goes without saying due to their sizes.
What’s their favorite non-sexual activity: For Prowl, it’s taking Optimus to all the beautiful and varied locations of Earth. Temples in remote locations, the northern lights in the artics, the neverending deserts, the crystal clear lakes where your reflections look like doubles, etc.
For Optimus, he prefers something a little simpler: a nice drive around Detroit, or a picnic, or staying home to just talk. Sometimes the mundane, simple things are often the best.
Who cooks: Prowl. He’d be the type to learn how to make organic food just because (though Sari sure appreciates it.)
Who comes home drunk at 3am: Optimus is responible enough not to pull that kind of stunt, even back in his training days. Prowl might have done this before he became an ninja when he was loose and irresponible, but he has great composure and would never let down his guard over something as ridiculous as getting hammered.
Who kills the spiders: Neither. Optimus would rather RUN from the spiders and Prowl would consider them a precious lifeform.
Who falls asleep first: Optimus. Prowl would take some time before he can safely let down his guard long enough to take a stasis break before Optimus did.
A head canon: Optimus often watched when Prowl whistled. He had scanned and studied the birds, you see, and replayed the records repeatedly until he matched their pitch perfectly. Prowl often left nature to its own accord, so it was an interesting sight to see him actively making bird calls. The tiny little fluffs would flutter over and land on the black-chassised bot where the two would seemingly communicate. It was quite a sight to see bird and bot tweet at each other. Sari likened Prowl to a “princess” from some cartoon neither Prowl or Optimus have heard of.
Whenever Prowl was upset (from whatever it might have been, they weren’t quite deep into the relationship that he was ready to drop everything and tell Prime the whys), Optimus would watch with a concerned frown as Prowl sat under his tree. He looked like he was mediating, but really, he was sulking. So Optimus followed in his footsteps and took to bird calling. Whenever Prowl was upset, he could call upon them to fly into Prowl’s room through the open roof. Maybe that would cheer him up…
