He stood in the main courtyard of the citadel and admired
the view. The walls of the citadel had been painted with bright, proud colors
which boasted the wealth brought in to her ports by foreign ships. Frescos
danced on the inner rooms, showing scenes of bots dancing, servants bringing
forth large feasts, and fantastic beasts hunting their vicious prey. Outside
the citadel, the surrounding town glittered with the best paint each occupant
could afford. Even the market place, filled with beggars and cheaters of all
sorts, had a sense of luxury and decadence.
To the North was the Sea, where Megatron himself claimed a
citadel and a home. All other sides were surrounded by tall mountains, unclimbable
to all except determined pilgrims and cyber-goats. The only path through the
range was a wide river that the town had grown over long ago.
Iacon was beautiful, even while it burned. From the
courtyard, Megatron could still see the glows of several large fires as they
burned through the wood and clay. He turned away from the burning landscape to
look at the people behind him.
Adhesive I just had the cutest idea
Okay so this started cause I was seeing posts on alot of decepticon behavior and their comparisons to packs and lion prides and im just
Why isn’t there alot of posts on Autobot behaviors?
So I was like if Deceptiocns are more like predators that act like cats/big cats/Dogs/wolves wouldn’t authors technically act more like large preys/predators? Instead of packs they have herds or pods?
Like Whales, and elephants?
I just had this thought of Autobots in the washracks and all the youngest are acting like little kids and spitting cleanser or throwing suds in water. Bath time is social time for all members who had finished their shift. The autobots have a huge communal bath and showers and often help each other clean and tidy up.
Autobots get this reputation of being prude, strict, and distant emotionally from each other but that’s cause decepticons and quite a bit of neutrals actually don’t realize they tend organize socializing so they can they maximum amount of time to be with each other. They also know when to break off into smaller groups for higher survival.
They tend to make cohort groups or bond groups(think like the Rod Squad in this case) that often will go thick or thin with eachother and have developed to knowing other wuoelrks inside jokes ect. The autobots are mostly made up of these bond group and when they come together is almost like a family clan. Bonds group tend to like to integrate new comers and when new comers join this helps build bridges and bonds with other bond groups. (Nautica for example and Velocity ended joining Rodimus bond group and end up binding two smaller bond groups the scientists and medics to Rodimus command group).
But their is also Autobots who don’t have a particular bond group so they hover around others(Trailbreaker and Pipes). Their more like Bull males and tend to be more solitary or join other bull males(Getaway, Atomizer, Blaster). Or the wreckers who members tend to change often.
All Autobot leaders are like closer to a matriarchy Elephants. When the leader is dead or too tired to continue the eldest daughter will lead(Bumblebee leading Cybertron after Optimus left). Autobots leader have this innate need to care and look after others and will often make big groups that can have smaller bonds groups made.(Rodimus and the lost light plus its many cliques)
It’s very typical for much older and wiser mechs to guide younger inexperienced ones. As older ones tend to be effective descions makers.(Ratchet, Magnus, Rung) and also keep younger ones in lime because their cut through the bullshit attitudes tend to tamper their more aggressiveand hothead behaviors. (Tho this doesn’t always work)
Autobots have a very hard time welcoming Decepticons because of this Big Prey vs Predator relationship. Deceptions won’t typically go after the older mature Autobots (the big developed prey) and instead the go for younger weaker bots (the less developed inexperienced prey) cause like big cats it’s much easier.
Newsparks and new Autobots tend to be the center of attention for a while often sticking close to the Autobots who brought them in. This usually lasts until everyone finds a new rhythm with the new addition.
Touch is a big thing, but it more subtle then cuddle piles and hugs. They tend to be more private about affection like hugs and cuddling but more open about hand holding, shoulder bumping and shoulder touching.
And that’s all i got right now.
Oh my god my brain is too fried to add anything right now but ELEPHANT HERD AUTUOBS UNITS YAAAASSSSSSS
Am I the only one that would be super interested in seeing a tf continuation that had humans be in space with the cybertronians rather than stuck on earth? I just feel like the interactions could be super interesting if done right
And by done right I mean none of that cappy “woe is me I’m a human in space make the whole story line revolve around me” and more “I’M STUCK IN SPACE WITH THESE GIANT IDIOTS AND I NEED TO TAKE THE BIGGEST DUMP EVER BUT THEY DON’T HAVE ANY FUCKING TOILETS SO I HAVE TO ASK THEIR FUCKING MEDIC TO HELP ME F U C K” and there’s culture shock on both sides and maybe go into why a lot of cybertronians were(are?) anti-organic
Plus for once it would be the humans adjusting rather than the autobots. I could see some of the bots are super confused on how the humans are able to adapt so quickly until they’re pointed out to the fact that cybertronians have had a very slow inclination for evolution because of their life spans while humans perish rather fast so they evolved and adapted in a couple million years to where they are now
There’s a capability for some really cool and potentially hilarious interactions and I just!!!! Want to see this explored!!!!
I’m just all about that human/robot interaction when it’s done in an interesting manner
humanformer Grimlock being a hugenormous hulk from the Philippines who has trouble fitting into doors, makes big and tall shops cry because nothing will ever fit him, and has a slightly nervous or fidgety way of moving that reminds people of birds
he’s also, once you get past his gruff and grumpy demeanor, a huge NERD who never stops wearing those sunglasses visors, never, he will never remove them, not for love or money or the sweetest of all dares
Casually subscribes to headcanon that Megatron’s earth form isn’t too different from what his armor looked like before he got all decked out with spikes to look like a more intimidating opponant. Have some Baby Megatron! Featuring plain, and fluorescent tape versions!
– Bumblebee and Prowl are practically the same age (around 20 ish?), tho Bumblebee has a tendency to act 5 years younger and Prowl acts 5 years older
– The Dinobots are a trio of local punks who act like they’re all tough and badass but really the worst they do is set shit on fire in the woods sometimes
– Prowl, being an ex local punk type herself, immediately connects with the Dinobots and is like “nope these are mine now I gotta take care of them bc they’re not really that bad they’re just rowdy and #edgy”
– Then Sari accidentally gives them magical fire powers gj
– everything in this AU is fucking violent: Optimus falling off a building and dying after landing on her head and being shot up by Starscream in front of Sari? Blurr getting the shit beaten out of her by Shockwave? Starscream dying like 80 times, including a scene where Starscream pops her spine back into place? Bee getting stabbed? that’s all gonna be in this with as few details changed as possible
– Optimus had a crush on both Elita and Sentinel (who were dating) during her time in the academy
– Optimus later accidentally has a crush on Megatron too bc whoops it’s my au that’s canon, nothing much changes plot wise other than her being like “f uck she’s hot??? help”
– Blurr has a friend named Dug Base who has a daughter (Wheelie) and helps raise her
– Drift defected from the decepticons halfway through the war and p much retired as a Magical Girl altogether and now lives with Ratchet
You know what annoys me? The hard metallic looking berths and couches we’re so frequently shown.
Sure, Cybertronians are made of metal, so presumably the feel of cold hard metal is not actually uncomfortable against their surfaces, nor will their joints be strained by being braced on them.
But what about when they’re moving? Metal on metal isn’t pleasant for a reason: friction. I’m sure we’ve all heard the unpleasant screech of metal scraping and dragging, and maybe even seen sparks fly when a piece of metal strikes a rock or other object. And it’s not like the metal is unharmed and obvlious to the contact. From Wikipedia:
Galling is a form of wear caused by adhesion between sliding surfaces. When a material galls, some of it is pulled with the contacting surface, especially if there is a large amount of force compressing the surfaces together. Galling is caused by a combination of friction and adhesion between the surfaces, followed by slipping and tearing of crystal structure beneath the surface.
[…]
Galling is most commonly found in metal surfaces that are in sliding contact with each other. It is especially common where there is inadequate lubrication between the surfaces. However, certain metals will generally be more prone to galling, due to the atomic structure of their crystals.
If we’re going to be logical about it, then Transformers probably prefer, for their furniture and resting places:
1. Well-lubricated metallic surfaces that are made up of a metal or alloy that has a low gall rate and is more resistant to wear
AND/OR
2. Surfaces that are covered in some kind of soft materal that does not create damaging friction against metal: cloth padding, a layer of gel, something of that sort.
(I would honestly guess a combo: some furniture surfaces are made up of low-gall material and lubricated well, others are covered in padding. One is probably more of a luxury than the other. Padded cloth/gel surfaces would certainly be cleaner.)
In other words, it makes more sense for Cybertronians’ furniture to be comfortable padded than to be simple metal slabs. Pillows make more sense for them than the kind of furniture the comic is showing. I don’t think Nightbeat’s couch here is well-lubricated either: look at it versus Nightbeat’s metal body: there is no sheen or shine on the couch–oil and grease would reflect back light.
I think there is this thing where people, both fans and official content creators, want the Cybertronians to be alien and robot-ish to some extent, and make gestures like these (hard metal recharge slabs and couches) without thinking through the reasoning for why they would have such a thing. They want to avoid being lazy or not representing fully that these are aliens and do things differently.
But some things they probably do the same as humans, and for good reason. Giant alien pillows are one of those things.
I know we all love the usual story of TF. It’s a great story, and it holds up through the test of time because it’s something we’ve seen in our own history time and time again. The slow decline of the Golden Age into a period of terrible fascism and oppression, the political climate becoming a breeding ground for rebellion and the subsequent rise of Megatron and Orion Pax as the next great speakers representing the people, then the sharp turn into war and the destruction of the world they all fought so damn hard for. Then of course, the seemingly endless wandering until finally, they come to Earth for whatever reason the continuity gives them.
But, I’ve been thinking. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see things flipped? What if we get to that period after the fateful meeting with the High Council, and the buildup to war is a lot slower? What if during that time, humans found their way into space and established themselves in the universe? I know, shush, hear me out. Usually in tf canon, the universe is a collection of well-established societies with the people in charge being descended from old Cybertronian colonies. It’s also usually canon that the universe has long, long since lost contact with Cybertron, when the Great Decline began and all the space bridges got shut off because Cybertronian society began turning inward.
So like, what if humans turn up and suddenly start shaking up the status quo. We know in a lot of tf canon, organic life is treated as second-class by non-organic life. Organics are generally viewed as slow, messy, stupid creatures. Now, I’d imagine if we got to space and people were racist arseholes to us, we’d have something to say about that. We’d probably have a lot to say about that, now that I think about it. So lets imagine we get ourselves a reputation much like Megatron and Orion did back on Cybertron (I’ll get to that in a sec). We’re these strange people who just showed up out of nowhere, flipped the bird to the established rules, and fucked shit up because we said what needed to be said. We argue and argue against what we view as unfair and oppressive rule, and all that arguing ends up putting us in good stead with all the other organic races and more open-minded of non-organics. We get noticed for other reasons too, like all the stuff you see in those awesome ‘humans are space orcs’ or ‘earth is space australia’ posts. I love those, and I want to see more self-love in scifi. Humans are pretty amazing when we put our minds to something. Because of this combination, we’re rapidly gaining power in a system with no place for us, and it’s tipping the balance. Lets then imagine we start asking questions too, because that’s what we do. Argue and question.
Lets imagine all that questioning leads to us finding out about the great, long lost planet that all these non-organics are descended from. A planet of crystal cities and everlasting light, a planet so ancient it can’t be dated, a planet that’s also an actual living person at its core. Don’t pretend we wouldn’t immediately decide that’s our new adventure, because fuck me that’s just awesome.
What if back on Cybertron, the same thing is happening. Megatron and Orion are still fighting the good fight, just trying to fix a stupidly broken system while also keeping their tenuous friendship intact by the end of it. What if suddenly these ridiculously tiny organic creatures turn up, having somehow tracked the planet down, and join in with said good fight when they realise they’ve seen this shit all before and they’re not having any of it. Because you see, Cybertron might be an old myth to some, but if we can find it and make friends with the locals, then the rest of the universe will follow suit.
Idk, it’s just an idea swimming about in my head. I think it’d be cool to see how things changed, how the war either still happened or didn’t happen, how the cultures would clash and mingle, how friendships and relationships would develop. That sort of thing.
I’m rambling, but I know what I’m trying to say. I just really love those rare occasions when tf fics and canon go into the similarities and differences between our species and re-imagine stuff.
Been thinking about Lugnut as a character, and how he might be applied as a character in a more complex or grounded show or series than Animated. And I have to say he has potential.
Lugnut’s defining characteristic is his fanatical loyalty to Megatron, perhaps even more than any other Decepticon. And that sort of blind loyalty can be terrifying. There would be no reasoning with him, no way to get him to back down from anything. Any with Lugnut’s massive strength, any Decepticon that didn’t live up to his ideals of loyalty would be rightfully afraid of him. He’d probably be some sort of enforcer, somebody to keep everyone else in line.
The only person who’d actually be out of Lugnut’s grasp would be Starscream. Starscream, the ultimate traitor, the one most critical of Megatron. Starscream, the Air Commander, and likely Lugnut’s direct superior. It would eat Lugnut up inside to have to follow Starscream’s orders. But Starscream isn’t there for the common troops to challenge. When he breaks rank, it’s always Megatron who brings him crashing back down.
And what if, one day, Megatron didn’t live up to the ideal that Lugnut imagines him to be? What if Megatron didn’t live up to his own values? Would Lugnut desperately try to ignore the difference, and be driven further into fanaticism? Or would his worship turn to disgust?
