       An updated version !!

Under the cut are some short introductions to the places named on this map, others that aren’t, and the general geographic makeup of the Cybertronian homeworld. This is a headcanon developed for my own use in fanfic and rp projects; feel free to borrow these concepts if they take your fancy, but they are NOT canon to any continuity.

S/O to @deformed-car for helping me overthink this comic, b/c it let me work out for myself how resting works for Transformers.

So we’d both heard “defragging” – which refers to “defragmentation”, process of moving data around on a hard drive to better segment it – used in the context of sleep before, and they lined it up nicely with the theory of sleep that one function of it in humans is to analyse and structure memories. That kind of got me thinking that “recharge” probably has several phases to it, sort of how a sleep cycle has multiple parts to it.

Starting with just initiation, all the basic frame control systems start to shut off, all non-critical systems get depowered, and the self-repair system is initiated to run its own checks and start working on repairs that are too resource-intensive to do while awake. If the system is too backed up, there’s a chance the rest cycle initiation fails, which necessarily won’t stop the other systems from intiating, it just means that the processor never moves on from “awake” tasks, resulting in difficulties falling asleep or getting any actual rest.

The aim of initiating a rest cycle is to eventually run down all other system that needs management, leaving the core systems idle so that they also can undergo repairs and maintenance – such as memory defragmentation. “Deep repair” requires that the system run internal checks every now and again, which brings some of the subsystems back online to run those checks, resulting in periods of deeper and more shallow rest.

Powering down to “recharge” also means that there’s a maximum amount of fuel available, allowing even intense maintenance to be run – especially in continuities where recharging is done by tethering to an external power source. The need for rest might also just be a direct consequence of the system being unable to efficiently run self-checks while the processor is occupied by “awake” tasks. You can forego rest, but it’ll start causing slowdown after a while.

entropic-introspection:

So phone music shuffle lead me to the idea that in TFA, all the ““historic”“ videos about the beginnings of the Decepticon uprising are basically Megatron singing “Come Little Children” (Megazark who? lol) and seducing those poor innocent youngsters, the time’s come to play in his garden of shadows

When in truth it was kinda more like “Light Up the Night” with righteous fury young (and kinda stupid) Megatron acting as the voice for old man Megazark as they call to the disenfranchised to stand up b/c everything isnt lost yet, we just need one spark to light the revolution-! Sadly the man in the tower who controls it all without lifting a single fist still wins

tfmatrix:

Human Newborn: Helpless blob of flesh and nerves, mostly cries and eats, cannot do much.

Cybertronian “Newbown”: Immediately capable of hunting and scavenging for food, typically born with additional “teeth” and claws that are shed with growth to be used for defense and procurement of food. Will eat until incapable of taking any more food into system. Also cries and eats. Sometimes born with fully functional guns attached to body.

please pay attention to the last part

Seeker

tfpaddict:

Ah, Seekers. Rulers of the Skies, Death from Above, and most grounders agree, some of the most frustrating mecha to ever be built.

Seekers are part of the warbuild line; built for battle and trained for war However, they are also the only warbuilds that had a rank and standing in the caste system of the Golden Age. Somehow, while the rest of the warbuilds were far more oppressed and controlled, Seekers managed to maintain their unique culture and at least a voice (if not complete autonomy) in the the rule of their City, in the form of the Air Commander.

Graceful, prideful and dangerous, Seekers tend to draw the attention of all others who interact with them. However, they are also notoriously short-tempered and vicious when they feel they’ve been crossed or rejected. Many find them seemingly changeable at a whim and confusingly hard to read.

This is mainly because of the highly-developed Seeker wing-language and their attention to body language. Grounders often leave a conversation with a Seeker feeling as if they had missed half the conversation – with the Seeker leaving the same conversation thinking that the grounder was uncommonly dense. A mere tilt or flick of the wing could have a dozen meanings from invitation to a warning that the owner is becoming irritated beyond tolerance.

Is there a transformer who is a bus

Because there really needs to be an Autobot bus

A really patient, tender-sparked Autobot bus who thinks being full of squishy aliens is kind of awesome and shrugs it off when they get rowdy or messy and trash her interior, most of the time

And when there’s a Decepticon around she takes great care to detour somewhere and let the humans out in a (relatively) safe place and talk soothingly to them over the bus intercom thing about how they’re gonna be okay

And then when she’s sure all the tiny aliens are accounted for she transforms and wreaks holy hell upon those who would dare threaten HER tiny alien babies

I’m not even a big Autobot fan BUT THIS CHARACTER NEEDS TO EXIST
