whoa. Buggy, you gotta see this. bugs and robots together!!!
The following is an excerpt from the artist’s deviantART page bio:
My aim is to show the beauty of the mechanical world, a place generally hidden from the public behind metal and glass. My pieces display the more delicate and ephemeral side of gears, rather than the cold, hard factory feel they normally portray. Please contact me at jmg@amechanicalmind.com or jmg.amechanicalmind@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
I’ve been thinking off an on about Cybertronian Fauna, and wondered to myself: what if instead of there being a version of most mammals, there were instead crustaceans and gastropods??
This makes me uncomfortable, like I just aggro’d a whole roomful of mobs…
Every Cybertronian in my head just cringed. I’m pretty sure these are some really hellaciously dangerous Cybertronian flora.
These are metallovores, like scraplets, but where scraplets are airborne piranhas these are something like a sundew, which traps its prey in these grasping fronds and slowly dissolves the frame over hours and days. Some adventurous Cybertronians keep them in their gardens. They enjoy the heat━━if you’re in the polar regions, you’d best invest in a greenhouse.
You know what I want to see more of in the Transformers fandom? More non-earth Cybertronian wildlife. Everything I’ve seen so far is based off what we have on Earth with a name that makes it sound like a robot, like turbo fox.
I want to see more animals that don’t look like Earth’s critters and that don’t have names altered to make them sound like robots. I want giant creatures that the TFs legitimately fear and weird little critters that creep them out the way spiders scare us. Give me animals that can’t be passed off as something off Earth. I want unique things that belong on an alien planet made of metal.
Give me alien animals!
Bayverse of all things has been the best at this so far, tbh. The Driller from DotM, whatever the heck Reedman is, can we count that? Cybertronian wildlife that looks like shit from the Cambrian Explosion, can we have this?
This amazing crystal of pure gold was grown through vapor deposition and is only 10mm high.
I had to use my microscope to make this detailed photo, using 75 individual photos and putting them together with focus stacking.
It really is this bright and shiny!
Silver Crystals:
These silver crystals were electrochemically grown from a solution of silver nitrate, using silver electrodes.
The field of view is 18 mm and is composed of 92 individual photos, combined using focus stacking.
Copper Dendrites:
This dendritic structure of pure copper was grown during the copper plating or electro plating of various objects.
The field of view is about 3 cm high.
Magnesium Crystal Cluster Close-up:
This is a close-up of a synthetic magnesium crystal cluster. It was done by distilling magnesium and the group is about 3 cm wide. It is part of my personal collection of elements.

These are beautiful! I love looking at these structures, the colors are so captivating and the structures and quite marvelous.
The copper structure looks like a volcanic eruption of some sort, and I just thought of what it would be like to see these crystal formations on a larger scale. Nonetheless, they are still magnificent in their uniqueness and originality.
You know how TF fanfics set on Cybertron often mention ‘crystals’?
I was watching TV, and a thing came on talking about these. (first four images relevant.) And suddenly I have all the ideas for Cybertronian geology. 8D
flipping hell. so i looked into that a little and
silver
copper
copper
nickel-iron meteorite
osmium
platinum
I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW ANY OF THIS WAS A THING
and i mean of course you have things like bismuth but like. wow.
