You can’t fly with “Praxian Wings” because they are actually doorwings.

The phrase “Flying with Praxian wings” roughly translates to something both absurd and impossible. If someone is “trying to fly with Praxian wings”, it means that they are going YOLO and about to do something very stupid (i.e. drinking a cylinder full of industrial-grade energon, bungy-jumping into a smelting pit)

The feeling when you post things on the wrong blog…..

Scribble – Triple Changers?

transformersmr-hq:

When a new transformer comes to life, their Spark is created first. Then, their body is forged around the spark so that they can become a whole bot. ((You may suggest how the details should work because honestly I have no idea))

Sometimes their spark does not match with the frame they are built with. For example, a Race car’s spark might end up inside a frame of a Van. Or, a Bomber may get an Aerobat’s frame. If it happenes between grounder-grounder or aerial-aerial, then most cases it’s not really a big problem. They might feel ‘misplaced’ and sometimes have trouble with controlling their body at worst, but in general they adjust to what they are given and live a normal life.

However, if it happenes between grounder-aerial, then one of the folowings will happen as soon as the forging mechanism detects something is going south:

  • Newbuild dies.
The mechanism decided to go “frag it” and aborted the project. The frame will cease forging altogether. If the newbuild does not get the help they need in time, then the spark will wither away.
  • Newbuild is born with deformed frame
The mechanism decided to go “frag it” and built the frame anyway. The end result is a train wreck. Newbuild survives, but not without varying degree of bodily mutations. Sometimes the mutation only limits transformation ability. Sometimes the mutation is so severe that the Newbuild may not be able to walk at all.
  • Triple Changer
The mechanism decided to go “frag it” and built the frame anyway. the end result is a miracle. Most common case is a Car or Tank & Shuttle or Bomber.

Do you think being a Triple Changer is a good thing? Ask Blitzwing, and he will tell you how suck it is. Cybertronian society in general requires you for one specific job that you are built for, so it is better to be really good at one thing than being okay-ish with several things. Blitzwing is a Tank Bomber. Until he figured out how to use his special build as an advantage, he used to be called by numerous harsh nicknames from both sides because he was too heavy & slow for a bomber and was too light & delicate for a tank.

For such reasons, Triple Changers usually prefer one alt mode and will rarely use the other. They tend to choose to be a grounder because cars with wings look less ridiculous than planes with wheels stickig out.

One of the Decepticon scientist the cyclopse one with huge boob tried to artificially create Triple Changers out of already existing bots. He scrapped the idea because he saw no point in creating a bunch of winged tanks or wheeled jets.

Triple Changers weight quite a lot more than other bots with similar size.

Seekers are hard to repair, but not as nearly as hard as a Triple Changer. At least Seekers look all the same, but these ones? How the heck do these wings work?? Where does this kibble go when they transform??? WHY THEY HAVE THESE AND THAT WHERE THEY SHOULD HAVE EXTRA SPACE??????

– sad? blades r pointing down!

– or moving each blade on their own for mixed feelings

and when the mech’s really excited this shit happens:

helis using their rotor blades to stim like built in fidget spinners!!

helis using them to stim by wiggling them back and forth when theyre happy!!

helis making ther rotors tilt to the side when confused

helis idly letting them just spin slowly when theyre relaxed

Hey I almost made myself cry with this thought so I had to share it:

Imagine a Cybertronian, regardless of faction but I imagined Autobot, just tooling around in alt mode, checking out Earth and doing car stuff.

So they’re at an intersection, waiting for the light to turn green, and they overhear some humans talking. There’s a parent and their young child, and one of the parent’s friends. They’re talking about kids and work and stuff and the cybertronian starts tuning out and then the friend asks the kid “what do you want to be when you grow up?”

And it’s the first time the cybertronian has ever heard anything like that. They put their hazards on because their engine has just stalled while they think about that, just kinda going “wooow… what do I wanna be when I grow up? I never got asked that… i hope that kid gets their dream job.”

And also because I’m imagining this kid like four they look over and see the cybertronian and just kinda go [vehicle type], whatever the bot’s alt is and instead of saying no, the parent just laughs and goes “okay, you can be a [vehicle]”

And the cybertronian is like “i have to protect this planet”

Ouch, Nightbeat: On Metallic Couches

You know what annoys me? The hard metallic looking berths and couches we’re so frequently shown.

image

Sure, Cybertronians are made of metal, so presumably the feel of cold hard metal is not actually uncomfortable against their surfaces, nor will their joints be strained by being braced on them.

But what about when they’re moving?  Metal on metal isn’t pleasant for a reason: friction. I’m sure we’ve all heard the unpleasant screech of metal scraping and dragging, and  maybe even seen sparks fly when a piece of metal strikes a rock or other object. And it’s not like the metal is unharmed and obvlious to the contact. From Wikipedia:

Galling is a form of wear caused by adhesion between sliding surfaces. When a material galls, some of it is pulled with the contacting surface, especially if there is a large amount of force compressing the surfaces together. Galling is caused by a combination of friction and adhesion between the surfaces, followed by slipping and tearing of crystal structure beneath the surface.

[…]

Galling is most commonly found in metal surfaces that are in sliding contact with each other. It is especially common where there is inadequate lubrication between the surfaces. However, certain metals will generally be more prone to galling, due to the atomic structure of their crystals.

If we’re going to be logical about it, then Transformers probably prefer, for their furniture and resting places:

  • 1. Well-lubricated metallic surfaces that are made up of a metal or alloy that has a low gall rate and is more resistant to wear

AND/OR

  • 2. Surfaces that are covered in some kind of soft materal that does not create damaging friction against metal: cloth padding, a layer of gel, something of that sort.

(I would honestly guess a combo: some furniture surfaces are made up of low-gall material and lubricated well, others are covered in padding. One is probably more of a luxury than the other. Padded cloth/gel surfaces would certainly be cleaner.)

In other words, it makes more sense for Cybertronians’ furniture to be comfortable padded than to be simple metal slabs. Pillows make more sense for them than the kind of furniture the comic is showing. I don’t think Nightbeat’s couch here is well-lubricated either: look at it versus Nightbeat’s metal body: there is no sheen or shine on the couch–oil and grease would reflect back light.

I think there is this thing where people, both fans and official content creators, want the Cybertronians to be alien and robot-ish to some extent, and make gestures like these (hard metal recharge slabs and couches) without thinking through the reasoning for why they would have such a thing. They want to avoid being lazy or not representing fully that these are aliens and do things differently.

But some things they probably do the same as humans, and for good reason. Giant alien pillows are one of those things.

I wonder… Do Transformers develop sensitivities and/or tolerances to various Energon-based food and drink?

Such as, a bot that’s been in the lower caste of society and had to constantly scrounge for food; would they get ill if they were to suddenly be introduced and ingest refined and ‘richer’ food or drink?

Or vice versa? A bot that’s from the ‘upper crust’ is suddenly forced to take what little sustenance they can, and it’s nothing like what they used to have access to, would they get ill?

I know, personally, of some humans (myself included) that can get a variety of digestive illness symptoms if they eat foods that are richer than what they normally eat for an extended period.

My headcanon is that trailers, campers, sidecars etc. some Transformers have aren’t parts of their actual frames. They’re like favourite backpacks/handbags humans have and always keep around whenever they start another journey/simply go outside. Those things have their own weight, of course, but it’s a well-known weight, and almost a part of you. So a Cybertronian wouldn’t get physically hurt if their trailer got destroyed, but he/she would feel awkward and uncomfortable and would want to replace the lost thing with something as close and similar as possible.

Human Optimus carries one of those purses that’s like the size of a dufflebag and never leaves home without it because it just makes him feel like he’s inCOMPLETE without it

Yes! That’s exactly right 🙂

Bots with upgraded frames

Bots with upgraded frames bumping into, knocking over things because they’re not used to their changed shape

Bots with upgraded frames getting hungry because their systems use more energy

Bots whose partners are slightly exasperated because they now take ¾ of the berth

Bots who keep forgetting about their upgrades

Bots who get randomly dizzy because their main processor still hasn’t caught up with the frame modifications

Bots who get cold because their new frame burns out the fuel too quickly

Pouting big bots who have to be fed, patched up and hugged by their – thankfully! – smaller partners

Big bots!

Also, hitting their heads on things that used to be taller than them.

Or thinking they can still fit through somewhere and finding out the hard way that they cant.

XD

yup

I am imagining all this with TFP Optimus.

And Ratchet going to Agent Fowler. “Agent Fowler, I require these additional materials.”

“Huh. That’s a lot of foam padding. What exactly is this for?”

A bigger berth.”

“Okay? Why do you need a bigger berth?”

Ratchet glances sidelong at Optimus.

Fowler: “Oh.”
