“In the Academy, there was this old training room everyone was SURE was haunted. Some cadet died. The story changed depending on who was telling it: a moron who didn’t realize he had live amo, a janitor who saw too much, a mech crazy in love, a fem bot with an allergy, a drone with a spoon, you name it, there was a version of the story with it.

“And guess which idiot wanted to investigate. Go on. Take a wild guess.

“Sentinel.

“He and his macho ego and large chin wanted to prove that he wasn’t afraid of ghosts or that they didn’t exist or solve the mystery or… something. I forgot what the Reason Of The Week was. Anyway. Ghost. Sentinel. Elita, who wanted to find out. Me, who wanted to keep the two idiots from getting in over their helms. 

“So we’re there, in the training room, around the middle of the lunar cycle full phase, armed with our headlights. Sentinel tried to address the ghost, demanding that the ghost tell him what happened. 

“Doesn’t work.

“So he makes the wise decision that we should turn off our headlights, despite my objections of ‘that’s a horrible idea’, ‘there’s no ghosts’, and ‘how are we suppose to see?!’. All lights off. We were three idiots standing in a dark room while one was talking to a being of unknown existence. Something moved, so Sentinel screamed and turned his light on.

“We didn’t see anything. And we were finally ready to give up when Sentinel turned to me and screamed ‘OPTIMUS! BEHIND YOU!’

“So I did the natural thing, and punched the bot that was standing behind me right in the face.

“And that’s the story of how I first met Ultra Magnus.”
